People living with dementia, carers of people living with dementia (whether current or former carers), individuals in the social and health sectors who work with people living with dementia, and interested community members in the Orange area are welcome to join the local Dementia Alliance.

It’s held on the third Tuesday of the month at 10am. The venue is at Giyalang Ganya Community Services Centre, 286 Lords Place Orange.

The main aim of the Dementia Peer and Carers Support Group is to keep people With Dementia and their carers connected and socially engaged within the broader community as much as possible. We strongly believe that people living with dementia have the right to self agency for self agency for as long as possible, and that they should be treated with dignity and respect at all times.

Each individual living with dementia, as well as their families and friends, have different experiences of living with dementia. But having said that, we have much to learn from each other. We provide a safe and private non-judgemental space to express your concerns and share your experiences, both positive and negative. 

All welcome to come along whether you, or someone you are caring for, have been diagnosed with dementia or are currently seeking diagnosis. As well as if you are concerned for yourself, a family member or friend. We are a varied bunch with lots of room for laughter, tears, support and socialising.

The coordinators of the group are volunteers and are unable to provide professional advice, but we do try to organise speakers who have the professional capacity to answer your questions and discuss options that might apply to you. 

Meetings are held from 10am to 12pm on the first and third Friday of the month (except January) at the Orange Ex-Services Club - Tobruk Room. You also have the option of joining us at the Ex Services Café after the meeting at your own expense.

Orange’s Dementia Carers Support Group meets every second Tuesday of each month at the Community Services Centre, Giyalang Ganya "Belonging House", 286 Lords Place Orange, from 10am to 12pm.
